Tony

This blog is for Tony, our beloved pet. Today, Friday, 13 November 2020, we had to put him to rest. He lived to be 13 years old. He’s no longer in pain. We weren’t his first owner. Our son Andy was. Tony always rememered Andy when he seen him. It always made my heart happy to see them two reunite. He had a great life. Tony was an American Eskimo. He loved being around people, especially kids. We had cats when Tony was just a pup. We learned pretty quick that we couldn’t buy toys for him or the cats because he’d gather them up and put them up. He was OCD lol He loved winter because it was cold. He’d lay on the vent in the summer when the AC kicked on. He was talk back to us when we said something he didn’t agree with by snorting at us. lol We didn’t know at first, but learned that Tony was blind in one eye and possibly partially blind in the other eye. He could see things off in the distance but couldn’t see the Opossum right next to him in the yard.

He loved riding in vehicles with the window down, but unlike a lot of dogs he only liked hanging out of the window until we hit a certain speed and then he was done. New smells everywhere!

He didn’t care where we were going just as long as he was going too. He was my buddy.

Sometimes it’s really hard to get a good picture. And this was one of those times.

He loved being with his humans and loved going for rides. Rides usually meant Sonic which meant he was getting a hamburger treat.

One happy Tony!

He wasn’t spoiled. Just kidding! He was. I just wish the spoiling started sooner.

He learned to stear clear of this cat for sure. If I remember correctly this cat’s name was Patches. Patches didn’t like Tony.

But Patches liked Tony’s bed. Tony couldn’t do anything about it. He tried. Poor Tony πŸ™

Tony would put up with me. I was always trying to get pictures of him, of how he slept or of him smiling. In this photo is was like he was saying “Okay Mom! Enough already.” lol

One day while we were outside in the backyard, Tony discovered a kitten in the alleyway. And somehow that kitten found his way into our yard. Tony just had to adopt this kitten. Our pet adopted a pet. lol Tony showed him the doggy door by pushing him in through it. And then showed “Pet” the food and water area. Such a caring dog he was.

They laid next to each other on the couch.

Tony even played with his pet named “Pet”.

He loved bed time. That meant routine pettings and taking up my leg space. lol

Or in this case he took my whole side of the bed. lol

Tony met mom’s dog Max for the first time.

This was taken within a few weeks ago. He had a little spunk in him and wanted on our laps taking turns.

Him close to his humans.

Him saying “Hi Mom!” and I was lucky enough to get a picture.

One day I was getting ready to go to work and he decided he was going with me. And it was hard getting him to get out of the truck. lol

Game Cam caught him running through the yard. This is before we moved back to town. He’d chase deer out of his yard. All kinds of critters actually, well the ones that he could see that is. lol He sure was happy and made us laugh and happy.

I purposely covered him up and he let me do it. He wasn’t too happy about it.

He’s sleepy.

He was tolerant of me and my shananigans, most of the time. I covered him up with a robe and he laid there not moving letting me. lol

Towards the end, it was hard for him to get comfy, but here at least he was.

He wasn’t feeling the best.

Him smiling.

Today is 14th of April 2021 and I still can’t. I just can’t. It feels like just yesterday we had to do the hardest thing I’ve had to do. I love and miss you Tony, very much!
