Airmen straight from Basic Training arriving at their new base don’t know what is in store for them. Well, at least in the Dirtboyz shop, they learned the tricks up the sleeves of their fellow airmen quickly. It was nothing to see a new airman be sent to get a piece of flight line from the tower. The tower would send them to another location on base. That lasted with a few stops being made around base and usually ended with a frustrated airman with no flight line in his hand having to try and explain why he came back empty handed.

When loading up the tools and equipment needed for a concrete job hearing “Don’t forget to grab the concrete stretcher!” got some of them. They also had to make sure the rebar had holes in them for aeration. And I’m sure everyone has heard of the blinker fluid one. They were sent to check that as well. But most of the time the poor airmen were hit with that in Tech School by the instructors.
